Through the Side Door

Beheimgasse church kids' group

How can a believing grandmother have spiritual impact in her daughter and granddaughter’s lives? This past year, she saw one opportunity through our monthly kids’ club at the Beheimgasse Church. Her granddaughter – we’ll call her Sarah – came and got to know the leaders and other kids. Sarah played ping pong, ate birthday cake for Jesus to celebrate Christmas, made pizza, practiced  lassoing and throwing an American football, among many other activities. She also learned from God’s word through devotions based on the Psalms. At her grandmother’s request, we gave Sarah her own Bible as a gift from the church. Now Sarah is attending Sunday services with her grandmother and has become a part of children’s church. She has even brought a school friend on several  ccasions. And recently, Sarah’s mom has come along too! It seems that kids’ club has served as a “side door” – an indirect entrance into the life of our church. And we hope that this side door will lead all the way to a living relationship with Christ. In his goodness and in answer to this grandmother’s prayers, God is at work and we can trust him to complete his work. ~ Rhonda Formanek
